What Is DET?

Who Can Take The DET?

Duolingo’s English language proficiency test is available to everyone. It’s for anyone who wants to assess their English skills. There are no age or academic restrictions. Typically, students applying to colleges or universities that accept Duolingo scores take this test.

Duolingo English Test – Eligibility

1. Does not require any academic transcripts or certificates for qualification.
2. There is no Age Criteria it is open to all but for “below 13 years required parental consent and they need to provide their consent via an online form during registration”.

Number Of Attempts

You can attempt an unlimited number of times. However, universities may set a minimum score that you must achieve. You can retake the test if needed, but you’re limited to two attempts within a 30-day period.

3. Ensure your computer has a working camera, microphone, speaker, and a reliable internet connection

Step Wise Procedure

1. Visit the official website and go to ‘sign up’ to create an account by filling in your details.

2. Create an account by filling in all the necessary details

3. After creating an account, it takes you to the registration page where you can choose from different options to either ‘Try the test’, ‘Purchase the test’ or ‘Take the test’ as shown in the infographic below.
   • Try the test: You’ll get a 15-min practice test to prepare for the Duolingo English Test
   • Purchase the test: It allows you to buy the test and take it within the next 21 days whenever you’ll be prepared for it
   • Take the test: If you want to take the test at the time of registration then you need to select this option. It allows you to take the test right after registering for it.

4. After finalizing, you will be redirected to pay the Test fee.

1. Polish your vocabulary everyday: Vocabulary plays a crucial role in this test, so making an effort to learn new words every day can be extremely beneficial. Consider maintaining a separate notebook dedicated to expanding your vocabulary.
2. Work on your listening skills: If you want to enhance your listening skills, consider watching your favorite English web series, documentaries, or dramas. These engaging forms of media can be a fun and effective way to improve your ability to understand spoken English.
3. Descriptive exercise: It is an exercise which requires candidates to describe a thing, event or something mentioned in their own language, candidates can very well practice the same at their homes only.
4. Speaking exercise: To enhance your speaking skills, choose a topic that interests you and speak about it for 30 seconds to 1 minute. Record yourself while speaking, and then listen to the recording. Identify areas where you can improve, such as pronunciation or fluency, and repeat the exercise until you feel confident in your preparation.
