Graduate Record Examinations (GRE) – Eligibility

1. Qualification : There are no strict requirements for taking the GRE because the test itself is not tied to any specific course or program. However, when you apply to a university or institution, they may have their own educational qualifications that you need to meet, in addition to providing your GRE scores.

2. Age : There’s no specific age requirement to take the GRE exam. However, if you’re under 18, you’ll need written permission from your parents or guardians to register for the test..

3. Score: There are no specific passing marks for the GRE exam. It is usually used by universities to assess the potential of applicants. Some universities may have a minimum GRE score requirement for admission to certain courses. So, it’s important for candidates to review the GRE exam syllabus and prepare well to achieve a good score..

4. Number of Attempts: You can take the GRE exam up to 5 times within a year, but there must be a minimum gap of at least 21 days between each attempt.

How To Register For GRE?

Online

1. Visit the official website and go to ‘sign up’ to create an account by filling in your details.
2. The candidate needs to create the account.

3. Fill up your personal information.

4. Set up your Username and Password.

5. Submit the form and the account will get created.

6. Register for your appointment.

7. Select the exam date and time.

8. Verify your details.

9. After that you will be directed towards the payment page. You can choose among various options provided for payment, viz., debit card, credit card, PayPal.

10. Once you make the payment, you will receive a confirmation email specifying your GRE Exam date, centre, and time. The same could be accessed through your ETS account.

Offline

1. Via Phone: To schedule your GRE test in India, call 91-124-4147700 at least two business days before your preferred test date. They will provide you with a confirmation number, reporting time, and test center address over the phone.

2. Via Mail: 
   • Print and complete the GRE application form in a simple format.
   • Send the application form along with the GRE registration fee to the address provided.
   • Make sure your application is received at least three weeks before your preferred GRE test date.
   • Once processed, you will receive a confirmation number, reporting time, and the test centre address through email, fax, or regular mail.
3. Via Fax: Once you complete filling your form, send the application to 91-124-4147773. Keep in mind that your application form is received seven days before your chosen GRE test date.

At Home

If you have all the required technical equipment like a computer, microphone, and camera, you can take the GRE test at home. During registration, simply choose the ‘at-home’ option to make this selection. It’s a convenient way to take the test from the comfort of your own space.

Two Types Of GRE Test

General Test

The GRE General Test is a widely accepted assessment for graduate school admissions, evaluating reasoning and analytical skills. It’s administered by ETS and offers both at-home and test centre options.

How to Register

1. Visit ETS official website and create your profile.
2. Select the type of GRE test you want to take.
3. Choose a convenient test centre.
4. Select the date and time.
5. Pay the GRE registration fee, and you are done. 

Subject Test

The GRE Subject Tests are specialised exams that assess knowledge in specific fields. They are less commonly required than the GRE General Test and focus on subject expertise.

How to Register

1. Visit the official ETS website to create a profile to take up the GRE exam.
2. Choose the GRE subject test from the option and select the subjects of your choice.
3. Submit the GRE test registration form
4. Choose the GRE exam 2023 registration date and test centre from the list
5. Confirm all the details and make the GRE registration fee payment.
