About Trinity Western University

Trinity Western University (TWU) stands as a distinguished private Christian liberal arts institution, boasting campuses in both Langley and Richmond, British Columbia. Established in 1962, TWU hosts approximately 5,000 students on its sprawling 157-acre campus in Langley. Offering a comprehensive curriculum spanning liberal arts, sciences, and professional studies, TWU provides 45 undergraduate majors and 17 graduate and post-graduate programs. With a commitment to academic excellence, TWU maintains an intimate learning environment with a 16:1 student-faculty ratio, ensuring personalized attention and a dynamic educational experience. Additionally, TWU proudly embraces its membership in the Royal Society of Canada and competes in varsity sports as the Spartans, representing the university with pride and determination. Despite its esteemed reputation, TWU faces the challenge of having the highest domestic tuition among Canadian universities, as reported by Universities Canada.

Trinity Western University’s roots trace back to 1957, when the Evangelical Free Church of America initiated a committee to explore the viability of establishing a liberal arts college on North America’s Pacific Coast. This vision culminated in the founding of Trinity Junior College in 1962, which later evolved into Trinity Western College. In 1985, the institution transitioned into Trinity Western University following legislative changes by the British Columbia Provincial Government, solidifying its status as a privately funded Christian university. Today, Trinity Western University proudly stands as the fourth-oldest university in British Columbia, continuing its legacy of academic excellence and Christian values.
